Meaning and Story of Krishna Janmashtami 2014 (Birthday of Krishna)

Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj devotees celebrate Janmashtami 2014 New York, at Radha Govind Dham

A Divine breeze permeated the entire brahmand with the descension of supreme God Krishna. His mother Deoki saw Him in His absolute Divine glory, lovingly smiling and standing in front of her in His full youthful form. In the meantime celestial gods and goddesses along with Brahma and Shiv came, sang homage to Krishna and returned to their abodes. Krishna then became like a day-old baby.

Deoki and Vasudeo were imprisoned by the demon Kans, the King of Mathura, because a celestial warning had informed him that the eighth son of Deoki would be his destroyer. But when Krishna appeared, a tiny touch of His Divine power shattered the defense system of the jail: locks broke, watchmen went into deep sleep, gates opened and all the restrictions were eliminated. The flooding Yamuna river gave way to Vasudeo so that he could safely transport baby Krishna to his relative Nand Baba's house which was in Gokul and on the other side of river Yamuna. Thus, Krishna first descended in Mathura and on the same night He came to Gokul. He appeared on the eighth waning moon night of bhadon (August) in Rohini Nakchatra (asterism) in 3228 BC.

The next day, at the house of Nand Baba and Yashoda all the Brajwasis came together to join the most joyous celebration of Krishna's birthday. God Shiv also came rushing to Gokul to see the innocent loving smile of baby Krishna, and, in this way, from the very first morning of His descension on the earth planet, His playful Divine loving leelas started. From that day on, every day in Braj was a joyous celebration and every moment in Braj was an experience of Krishna's ever-new and ever-increasing love that encharmed the heart of every Brajwasi.

A similar experience is expected to be evoked at Radha Govind Dham New York Janmashtami 2014 Block Party in Hillside Avenue, Glen Oaks.

August 28th - Janmashtami Celebration from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am (Midnight)

Vrindavan, July 31st 2013: Legendary sanyasi preacher Swami Nikhilanand of JKP Radha Madhav Dham is to present a powerful 11-part lecture and kirtan series on Narad Bhakti Darshan at New York's popular Hanuman Temple from August 18th - 28th. Narad Bhakti Darshan is a profound treatise on Bhakti by the first acharya of Bhakti, Devarshi Narad, in the form of 84 Sanskrit sutras (codified sentences). This series of speeches by Shree Swamiji is based on the explanation of the Narad Bhakti Darshan given by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj in Hindi. This series of speeches of Shree Kripaluji Maharaj is a favorite among devotees.

Although the sutras of the Narad Bhakti Darshan were written for the people of kaliyug, it is still not possible to study this scripture on one's own. As is advised by the Vedas and all other scriptures, the meaning of any Divine scripture must be learned from a God realized Saint. Even a Sanskrit scholar cannot comprehend the philosophy behind the sutras, although he may be able to translate the literal meaning of the words. Listening to the interpretations of such people only creates confusion in the mind of a seeker. But when a soul listens to the philosophy explained by a Divine personality such as Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, confusion is removed and the philosophy becomes crystal clear. The series of speeches given by Shree Kripaluji Maharaj on the Narad Bhakti Suhttp://vrindavantimes.com/newstras explains all the most important aspects of bhakti and reveals many secrets about the Divine world and devotional path which one could not know simply by reading the sutras.

In his series of speeches, Swami Nikhilanand will summarize in English the speeches of Kripaluji Maharaj on the Narad Bhakti Sutra. Attendees of the 10-day program will learn the main topics of the sutras, including:

Narad bhakti sutra lectures by Kripaluji Maharaj's disciple in New York

  • the definition of bhakti (Divine love)
  • the goal of every soul is to go beyond mokch (liberation)
  • the 3 things you need to know to follow the path of bhakti
  • the relationship of a soul with God
  • the definition of true selfless bhakti
  • whether to worship multiple forms of God, or only one
  • the keys to balancing life in the world with following the path of bhakti
  • how Naradji says bhakti should be done
  • what is the best historical example of bhakti
  • why the Gopis are viewed as the topmost Saints
Of the speech series, Swami Nikhilanand says: "You should know that whatever I have said in the Narad Bhakti Sutra series is repeated from a series given by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj in Hindi. It is truly one of the most amazing series of speeches ever given."

At midnight on August 28th, "chappan bhog" will be offered to Shree Krishna. Dinner prasad served daily

Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, the worldwide mission of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, represented at Hindu Mandir Executive Conference 2012!
(Re-blogged from www.RadhaMadhavDham.org/blog)

Swami Nikhilanand, sanyasi disciple and pracharak of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj at HMEC 2012

360 delegates from 95 Hindu Mandirs and Hindu organizations gathered for the 7th annual Hindu Mandir Executive Conference (HMEC) in San Jose, CA on August 17 and 18, in a spirit of friendship. "It feels so good to be cooperating and helping each other instead of viewing each other as competitors," expressed one of the representatives. There are more than 600 Hindu Temples in North America - when you put it all together, that's a vast amount of experience and resources. HMEC gives Hindu Temples a chance to pool that experience and come up with solutions to common problems, and support every Temple's goal of perpetuating Hinduism's message to Indians living in America.

The focus of this year's conference was on how Temples can be more effective tools in passing on the teachings of Hinduism to the next generation of young Hindus in America. Representing Radha Madhav Dham, Swami Nikhilanand, a sanyasi disciple and pracharak of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, shared his experiences and observations from having visited hundreds of Temples in his last 10 years of preaching across the U.S.

"
First and foremost, let us all put our efforts in giving kids good, lasting memories when they visit the Temples, whether that is done through teaching traditional music or dance at the Temple, or by creating a fun experience for them during the festivals and celebrations. Even if they never progress beyond that initial phase, at least they will have a positive outlook towards Hinduism.
„

"
Working from this base...
„

he explained further,

"
...the youth can be invited to participate in ongoing religion classes where they will learn the basic principals of Hinduism. There are many Temples that have established successful educational programs, and we can learn from them what the most important common elements are.
„

When asked,

"
What is the one most important thing teachers should keep in mind when addressing a youth class on Hinduism?
„

Swami Nikhilanand, sanyasi pracharak of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj answered,

"
Don't be afraid to say 'I don't know'. If someone asks a question you don't know how to answer, do not give the traditional answer 'that's just the way it is'. Tell them that you don't know and that you'll be happy to help them find the answer.
„

He also went on to caution,

"
Please don't just send them online to find the answer, because then they'll only know what Wikipedia says. Talk to a real person.
„

Then, indicating the 14 Mahatmas and Pandits who had joined the conference from various organizations, he concluded,

"
Make use of our extensive human resources - get in touch with one of these great sources of knowledge.
„

At the 2010 HMEC, Swami Nikhilanand gave the keynote speech, All Religions Are Not The Same, a summary of which was published by a leading spiritual magazine in the U.S. (Hinduism Today).

HMEC, in the recent past, has successfully laid the groundwork for several networking groups such as the Coalition of Hindu Youth - formed after the 2009 HMEC to provide a forum for Hindus between the ages of 13 and 35 to share ideas on common issues (www.chynetwork.org); and the Bal Vihar Network - formed after the 2010 HMEC to provide a means for the leaders of the different educational programs at Temples across North America to share ideas (www.chynetwork.org/index.php/bvnetwork/). At the 2011 HMEC, the idea for a Hindu Pandits Conference (HMPC) was put forth.

This year, the very first HMPC happened in Pittsburgh, PA. The conference was arranged to encourage Pandits to come up with ways to better relate to their congregations, especially the youth. They worked to develop communication tools that would allow Pandits to connect with the people visiting Temples, and make their experience of coming to a Temple a more personal and understandable experience. This year's HMEC was hosted by the Fremont Hindu Temple of California. The conference, held in a different city every year, is an initiative by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America. This year, the event concluded on Sunday, August 19, with the annual India Day parade in Fremont, CA, where over 80,000 people gathered to celebrate India's independence.
